True Wizard

Colin Farrell’s gonna move from the whatever the heck’s going on in the California of the second season of HBO’s True Detective to a world of wizardry imagined by one J.K. Rowling.

The Golden Globe winner is joining Eddie Redmayne in the part of the three-part Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, a before-Harry Potter story.

Farrell will portray a wizard that comes across the Theory of Everything Oscar winner’s Newt Scamander during his magiczoological journey to study magical creatures in America.

David Yates (the helmer of the back half of the Chosen One’s movies) is directing (from Rowling’s first screenplay, no less), and the movie’s cast also already includes Katherine Waterston (Steve Jobs) and Ezra Miller (Trainwreck).

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is set for a December 2016 release.
