#sixseasonsafterall

Yahoo for Yahoo Screen, Human Beings.

Because Dan Harmon’s cult favorite, Community, will live (to die at a later time), after all, and its fans will get that sixth season they all wished it would. This in spite of NBC going and canceling the show at the end of this past TV season.

And how is this happening?

Well, it is all thanks to that most wonderful – today – of online platforms: Netflix hulu Yahoo Screen.

Which means that the Joel McHale-led comedy will be back...some time soon...for a 13-episode (final?) run.

He Gon’ Get His

Tom Hardy is gonna do it with Leo again.

Co-star with that guy – don’t be filthy.

Indeed, the Inception scene-stealer is joining Leonardo DiCaprio in Alejandro González Iñárritus The Revenant, a revenge story based on a novel by one Michael Punke.

Since the film is about a man who gets mauled by a grizzly bear and left for dead by some associates of his who also, btw, rob him of all his s---, Imma wager that the Mad Max: Fury Road star will play the leader of the men who have theirs coming their way courtesy of a pissed-off Leo.

Single, Studly, and Available

Duh.

Of course People magazine would pick Joe Manganiello as the hottest of Hottest Hollywood Bachelors.

I mean, right?

But if there is one person to credit – or blame, depending on your POV – for the honor going the way of the Manga-beast that would be Amal Alamuddin. You know...George Clooney’s attorney-fiancé.

(That smarty-pants bitch ruined everything!)

Now, as to why the True Blood star and director of La Bare is still on the market (the guy reportedly split with his model-gf this past spring), he claims it probably is because hes just too hot to handle.

I know you are, dude.

“I am part Sicilian,” Manganiello told People for its special issue, which also feature Jared Leto, out singer-songwriter Sam Smith, Usher, Ricky Martin, and, Prince Harry (natch). “I am passionate. I am a hot-blooded person. If you don’t like spicy, then maybe I’m not for you.

Now you know, ladies and gents that think you got a shot.

Zendaya Is Not That Somebody Anymore

Easy comes, easy goes.

Two weeks after it was announced that Zendaya would play Aaliyah on a made-for-Lifetime TV movie comes word that Zendaya, well...will not be playing Aaliyah, after all.

Which means that Aaliyah: Princess of R&B is officially on hold.

The Walking Girl

This summer, Aubrey Plaza (TV’s Parks and Recreation) is gonna eat a man.

As a zombie. In a movie.

And it will be funny.

Plaza is starring in the new comedy Life After Beth, as the girl of the title – a girl who is resurrected by her Old Testament-wielding parents (John C. Reilly and Molly Shannon), much to the delight and eventual chagrin of the boyfriend she left behind (The Amazing Spider-Man 2s Dane DeHaan).

Talk about a clinger, huh.

Life After Beth opens on Aug. 15.

Simply Irresistible, Pt. 93

Jennifer Lopez took Miami last night.

Nah. J. Lo killed Miami last night, as the headliner of the second night of the iHeartRadio Ultimate Pool Party at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach.

And Miami loved it. ’Cause that was the hotness right there.

Check it:

Man, I would have luh-ved to have been able to be there. I woulda shaken it with that hot mami.

Out of View

Looks like the Jenny McCarthy era on The View would be a short one.

And like Sherri Shepherds is over, too, for that matter.

It happened late last Thursday: Shepherd suprise-announced, to the shock of her fans and even her old co-host and friend, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, that she is leaving the TV chatfest that Barbara Walters created...soon – reportedly because her camp and the show’s just couldn’t strike a new deal for her return – with McCarthy tweeting out (like, a couple of hours later) that, “If Sherri goes... I go too. #sisters.

In case you are wondering, The View did not tweet her back asking her to stay and not leave the show after less than a year on the job.

Uh...#awkward.

Now only Whoopi Goldberg remains (so far), presumably ready to break in a new group of talkers as The View [moves] in an exciting new direction next season.

For Love of the Game

He’s helping Transformers: Age of Extinction take your money this lovely weekend, but that alone don’t mean that Jack Reynor is ready to rest on his laurels.

Not at all.

In fact, the Irish-American newcomer is already looking ahead at not becoming extinct himself. (See, Reynor legend has it that he arrived in Hollywood with nothing but 40 bucks in his pocket. Look far he’s come.) Which is why the actor is switching it up a bit.

Reynor is circling this biopic about Josh Hamilton (a former crack cocaine addict who became a baseball MVP who now plays for the Los Angeles Angels) that Casey Affleck is getting ready to direct.

Not a bad way to follow up a vapid fourthquel....

Not bad at all.

Miley Does the Peacock

Avert your young ones, America – Miley Cyrus is taking over NBC.

Well, no. Not really.

But La Cyrus will be all over that Peacock next month.

A two-hour special titled Miley Cyrus: Bangerz Tour is coming to NBC on July 6.

You have been warned.

So make sure you watch or have your TiVo all set and ready to go.

Or, you know...that no kids will not be watching.

Because that Miley Cyrus, oh dear, she is such a terrible example for them....

The MSF

H-O-T up-and-comer Wyatt Russell is going indie to follow up 22 Jump Street.

The son of Goldie and Kurt will co-star opposite Alex Karpovsky (HBO’s Girls) in Folk Hero & Funny Guy, a forthcoming buddy comedy about a struggling comic (Karpovsky) who goes on the road with an MSF (more successful friend) of his (the titular singer-songwriter, the character that Russell will portray).

Because why?

Anyway, Hello I Must Be Going’s Melanie Lynskey also will be featured in the film. Which automatically makes me think this project will have a nice wistful tone to it.

American Pastoral Man

Ewan McGregor is heading to Pittsburgh.

The two-time Golden Globe nominee will move to the City of Bridges next spring to headline the film adaptation of Philip Roths 1997 novel American Pastoral.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning story concerns a successful Jewish American businessman, a former high school athlete whose picture perfect upper middle class little life comes undone when his daughter gets mixed up in a deadly act of political terrorism during the Vietnam War.

Phillip Noyce is set to direct.

And Now, A Message from President Snow

No question about it, the publicity “propaganda” machine for the Hunger Games: Mockingjay movies (the first of which will fly into theaters this November) is in full swing.

Last week, we got a heroes-of-Panem campaign that served as a thinly veiled reminder to folks that the system that the Capitol has put in place must always come first.

And now this week, we’ve gotten a message from President Snow (Kiefer Sutherland) himself, chillingly reminding his people that the Capitol is the beating heart of Panem, and issuing ’em a clear warning: “If you fight against it, it is you who will bleed.

Given the fact that Josh Hutcherson’s Peeta Mellark – last seen being taken by the Capitol at the end of last fall’s The Hunger Games: Catching Fire – is standing right there by Snow’s side, all blank, vacant stares into the void, it is easy to infer that this is a message for Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss Everdeen, the reluctant face of the rebellion against the Capitol. Watch it for yourself:

Oh, it is on!

What Ever Happened to Shia LaBeouf?

Jeez.

I mean, what else can you say about Shia LaBeouf, right?

Dude has gone from parlaying his status as an F.O.S. into next-Tom Hankshood by way of several blockbusters in the aughts to...getting pinched at a Broadway show?

Yeah, folks – it looks like we have us a male, 2014 version of Amanda Bynes.

See, LaBeouf exhibited more of his as-of-late bizarre behavior last night (recent instances include his Bynes-esque quitting of the industry in January, his wearing a paper bag over his head at the Berlin premiere of Nymphomaniac a month later, and his James Franco-wannabe-ish “#IAMSORRY art installation), when he was escorted out of a performance of Cabaret at Studio 54 in New York and arrested on two counts of disorderly conduct.

Of course, to show its double standard, the media immediately jumped to – albeit jokingly (I should trust) – calling LaBeouf a gangsta for his latest stunt (this is not his first run-in with the law), whereas when Bynes got all erratic on the world, they simply called her crazy and diagnosed her with all kinds of psychological ailments.

Yeah. OK. Guilty! Ish.

There is a difference between making a comparison between two people who were/are in the thick of a meltdown of some sort and getting all doctor-y on the topic.

Either way, the questions still remains: Just what is Young Hollywood drinking these days?

Photo: GuardianLV.com.

Update 1: Four days after his big Broadway bust, Shia LaBeouf reportedly checked into a rehab facility (in California), to seek help with his issues.

Update 2: Yeah, no – Shia LaBeouf has not checked into rehab.

But he is in (outpatient?) treatment for alcoholism.

Decamping for Philly

Reporting In the City (of Brotherly Love)?

Maybe.

Sarah Jessica Parker is investigating a TV comeback via an adaptation of the police crime thriller Busted: A Tale of Corruption and Betrayal In the City of Brother Love, an award-winning chronicle of two (female) reporters’ efforts to blow the lid off one of the biggest police corruption scandals in the history of Philadelphia.

SJP’s Miami Rhapsody director David Frankel (The Devil Wears Prada, Marley & Me) is attached to helm and executive produce the pilot for the potential hour-long show, which will may go to a network TBA.

The actress will be starring in one of the two main roles.

JS the Robber

Looks like its gonna be Jason Sudeikis who turns to a life of crime instead of Jim Carrey.

In a new movie, of course.

The We’re the Millers star has been tapped by his old SNL boss, Lorne Michaels, for a featured role in the long-in-the-works Loomis Fargo, a comedy about a real-life multimillion-dollar robbery of a Loomis Fargo armed truck.

Technically speaking, Sudeikis will be playing a hit man in the project, which already has Owen Wilson, Zach Galifianakis, and Kristen Wiig on board.

Napoleon Dynamites Jared Hess is still handing directing duties.

The Beginning of the Fury Road

If it seems like Mad Max: Fury Road has been in the making for a good looong while, thats. Because. It has.

But we finally are getting a good look-see at the film starring Tom Hardy as Max Rockatansky and Charlize Theron as a badass one-armed chick named Imperator Furiosa, thanks to Entertainment Weekly’s Apocalypse Issue.

Click here for a bunch of pics of the cast – which also includes Nicholas Hoult, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Zoë Kravitz, and Riley Keough.

Mad Max: Fury Road is due out in theaters on May 15, 2015.

Diane Is Done...But Not Gone

Just like Baba Wawa Walters, Diane Sawyer is done.

Well, kind of.

No, Di-ane is not quite retiring, but , after five years on the job, she is leaving her post at ABC’s World News at summer’s end. She reportedly wants to focus on new stuff, ya know.

Cutie-patootie David Muir will take over for her on Sept. 2, while George Stephanopoulos will now serve as ABC News chief anchor.

Bound for the AlMa Mater

How quickly she grew up!

Seems like just yesterday Madonna was announcing to her the world she was pregnant with her firstborn while shooting Evita, but, oh no...that was...in 1996.

Indeed, that was more than 18 years ago, and today, that truest Princess of Pop, fashion designer and recent LaGuardia High grad Lourdes Ciccone Leon, is bound for college.

And not just any college but her mama’s alma mater, the University of Michigan! (M went there on a dance scholarship back in the late ’70s.)

Lola reportedly will pursue a bachelor’s in fine arts and musical theatre beginning this fall.

A Rose for Broadway

Thing just got Rose-y for the upcoming season on Broadway.

Rose Byrne-y.

Yes, the gorgeaussie Neighbors star is set to make her Great White Way debut with a turn opposite James Earl Jones in You Can’t Take It with You.

The actress will take on the role of the youngest daughter of the eccentric Sycamore family, the one who brings home her fiancé (a son of the rivaling Kirbys) for her parents to meet, in this first-in-more-than-three-decades revival of the Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman Pulitzer-winning play.

Preview for You Can’t Take It with You will begin on Aug. 26 for a Sept. 28 opening.

Nurse Terrified

So Emilia Clarke may be taking a breather from breaking chains on HBO’s Game of Thrones by kicking ass as Sarah Connor in a reboot of Terminator, but shes still looking to act in a little indie.

Albeit an indie with just a little bit of a supernatural bend.

Clarke has signed on to headline Voice From the Stone, the Americanization of the Italian novel La Voce Della Pietra.

She will play a nurse in 1950s Tuscany who gets mixed up with some evil force inside the castle where she cares for a young boy that recently lost his mother.

Hate it when that happens.

The Borough

Last year, we got to see the late James Gandolfini in one of his last silver-screen performances in the comedy Enough Said.

It was a delightful playing-against-type turn, and a especially moving one at that, since he was playing an oh-so-believable romantic lead.

This year, though, we will get one more performance from the man who was Tony Soprano, in a more...obvious setting: a dramatic thriller.

And not just in any ol’ dramatic thriller but in the Tom Hardy-led The Drop, which is based on the Dennis Lehane short story “Animal Rescue.

The Michaël Roskam-directed film – which co-stars Noomi Rapace, Matthias Schoenaerts (pictured here with Hardy...youre welcome), and Adores James Frecheville – centers on a lonely Boston Brooklyn bartender who saves a little puppy and is then targeted by its former owner while a crime related to the city’s underbelly plays out.

Check out the trailer for The Drop now and make sure you check it out when it opens on Sept. 21.
