Daniel Cleaver May Be Done

If they ever do make a third Bridget Jones movie (Helen Fielding has written a third book about the character, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy), you may not be seeing Hugh Grant in it.

In fact, the actor has gone on the record and said that you won’t, for he has “decided not to do [the movie].

He gave no reason for choosing his choice.

In Fielding’s third tome about the zaftig diary keeper that Renée Zellweger made famous on the silver screen, her husband, Mark Darcy (Colin Firth), bites it, and so it behooves Grant’s Daniel Cleaver, her former paramour, to help her raise her and Mark’s children.

Alas, Grant’s character may not even be a part of the story.

“I think they’re going to go ahead and do it without Daniel. The book’s excellent, by the way, but the script is completely different – [at least] the script as I last saw it a few years ago,” the actor recently said.

In case you are wondering, a third Bridget Jones movie has been rumored to be in the works since like, 2009.
