A Rock-y (Bay)watch

That long-rumored Baywatch movie you’d be loath to admit you absolutely want to happen is going to happen.

And with Dwayne Johnson on deck to star, no less.

Yes siree, the artist f.k.a. The Rock has confirmed that he is set to headline an “edgy, raunchy” version of the TV property that cemented David Hasselhoff’s status as an international star (especially beloved in Germany) and made one outta Pamela Anderson’s boobs.

Johnson shared the news via Instagram, and promised to deliver a movie that will be “funny as all hell.

FYI: SNL’s Bill Hader and – no joke – even Steven Spielberg previously were said to have been up for leading or directing such a project, respectively, of course...but, clearly, neither situation ever came to fruition.

The Roc...I mean...Johnson has more than proven he can open a movie and his popularity with audiences, so to go with him is a bit of a no-brainer.

No timeline has been confirmed, but Baywatch’s 25th anniversary is coming up in 2016, so theres a possibility.
